Triax celebrates its 75th anniversary this year
The brand was founded in 1949 by engineer Knud Jeppesen when he bought a forge in Hornsyld in Central Jutland, Denmark. Outraged by the price of antennas being imported into Denmark, Jeppesen decided he could produce better quality and cheaper antennas.
In 1959, he decided to concentrate from then on only on the production of antennas, and therefore he ceased his previous activities. The company's development was uninterrupted in the following years, as shown by the fact that in the 1970s TRIAX management decided to acquire the electronics company TRETEM, based in Kibæk, Denmark. However, the 1973 oil crisis hit the Danish economy hard and domestic demand for antennas fell sharply. However, the founder saw this as a challenge and saw the solution in entering the international market.
As a result, Mr Jeppesen has expanded his sales network throughout Europe, Africa and Canada. Later in the decade, the demand for colour TV increased the demand for antennas both domestically and internationally. To professionally serve this increased demand, the company added to its existing sales offices throughout Europe and made further acquisitions. This led to the purchase of new companies in the UK, France and Germany. This was a huge advantage for them, as it allowed them to cut their costs dramatically. As in the following years, not only analogue but also digital TV broadcasts were broadcasted, which also gave the company a great opportunity.
In 2020, the European Competition Authority approved the merger between TRIAX A/S and Klode Media, the former multimedia business of Ikusi. This relationship didn't last long, as the parties soon decided to split and TRIAX UK Ltd was created, which will also act as the company's new headquarters and provide an exciting new future for the brand. The company's headquarters are still based in Treorchy, UK.
