These types of light bridges are used not only by law enforcement agencies, government vehicles and ambulances in our country, but also by many other countries. The various LED light bridges and roof flashing parts and accessories provide many options to serve the wide range of needs of all these types of authorities and organizations.

Size and compatibility of light bridges

The width of the roof light dome ranges from 900 to 2000 millimetres, which can be precisely adapted to the width of any vehicle in 100 mm increments. The light bridge is controlled via a programmable control panel or a vehicle specific control. For example, the Hungarian police require the roof light to be 90% of the total width of the vehicle roof.

Why is the roof light blue or red?

Red is the internationally recognised colour of danger, but flashing lights for police and other organisations are blue. Why is that? One reason is that many other eye-catching colours are already in use. Car tail lights are red, headlights are white and yellow, and traffic lights are red, orange and green.

So it is a given that blue has not been used at this level before. This way, lights flashing blue or red are always spotted and immediately identified as a hazard. This means that cars with these lights will have more space on the road to reach their destination more quickly.

What material is the roof flashing made of and how durable is it?

The roof light bridge drum is made from polycarbonate, which is both tough and UV resistant. After all, cars with distinctive markings are constantly on the road. Therefore, between -40 and +60 degrees Celsius, the dome will certainly retain its shape and colour, as well as withstand more severe external influences.

How to install a light bridge, roof flashing? Do I need professional help?"

In order to fix the light bridge firmly, holes need to be drilled in the bodywork in the right places. Once the holes have been drilled, the mounting bracket is fitted and secured. Once the distinctive sign has been properly positioned and the brackets have been attached to the vehicle to be fitted with the distinctive sign, there is nothing to do but to re-check all the screws.

Because we need to make the fastening as tight as possible, as the light bridge will be subjected to severe driving winds. Of course, while mounting, we must be careful not to damage the vehicle, the bracket or the flashing light. Next, the light bridge control system must be wired up correctly.

After securing the LED light source accurately and tightly, the next step is to connect the roof light to the electrical system and install the dome. The installation of the light bridge requires a specialist, but the installation and replacement of the dome can be easily done by anyone.

How to keep the chassis of a light bridge clean and whether regular maintenance is necessary?

Wipe thoroughly with a soft, damp cotton cloth. It is also recommended to wash with water if there is a lot of dirt or, if necessary in summer, to pre-treat with a bug spray to dissolve any bug residue on the bore. When choosing a garment, make sure that it is clean and free of any scratching material. Once you have sprayed the dome with this cleaner and waited about 2-3 minutes, wipe it off.

As a private person, can we use a blue or red light bridge on our car?

The answer is very concise and simple: NO. We, as citizens, cannot install blue, red or orange lights on our cars in any form. If we use these types of lights on our cars without permission, the police will take action against us, with serious legal consequences.

If you not only use these lights, but also cause an accident as a result, you could face even more serious penalties. In addition, because we were not entitled to use the blue or red light, we will be liable for any financial damage.

What kind of certificate does a light bridge need to have?

A distinctive light must be R65 certified before it can be used on public roads. When operating, care must be taken to ensure that it is clearly visible from all angles. The lamp must be sufficiently visible at a distance of 20 to 50 metres from the vehicle and at a height of one and a half metres.
