The True Heading CTRX Vision+ is a 5 W Class B-SOTDMA AIS transponder with a built-in antenna splitter and an available WiFi option. Using the SOTDMA protocol, the unit participates in the AIS time-slot reservation plan and reserves a time slot for transmitting position data.

True Heading CTRX Vision+ SOTDMA AIS transponder

During SOTDMA operation, the CTRX Vision+ participates in the time-slot reservation process in the same way as AIS Class A equipment. It transmits position data at a higher update rate.

Previous CSTDMA transponders first check whether a free time slot is available. If no free time slot is available, a transmission may be skipped. The SOTDMA protocol of the CTRX Vision+ uses time-slot reservation.
