Further details of Triax SSP 4645 F Lightning Protection Cartridge
The TRIAX SSP 4645 F is a coaxial surge protection device that protects satellite (SAT), cable television (CATV), and terrestrial digital (DVB-T/T2) systems against voltage spikes caused by lightning strikes or power surges. The device can be used in the 5–2400 MHz frequency range, so it can be integrated into virtually any coaxial signal transmission system with a 75 Ω impedance.
Protection is provided by a gas discharge tube (GDT), which diverts sudden overvoltages to ground, thereby reducing the risk of damage to connected equipment—such as televisions, satellite receivers, multiswitches, or headend devices.
The device features a shielded, metal-cased design with F-type connectors (F female – F male), allowing for quick and easy integration into an existing coaxial network.
For optimal performance, the surge protector must be connected to the system’s common grounding point. It is important to note that the TRIAX SSP 4645 F does not replace the building’s lightning protection system; it provides protection exclusively against surges occurring on coaxial signal lines.
