The Safe and Sound EM3 combines 3D AC magnetic field, 1D AC electric field and body voltage measurements in a single instrument. The meter is optimized for measuring low-level AC magnetic and AC electric fields. It is suitable for home and professional use and meets the Building Biology SBM-2015 and SBM-2024 guidelines for electromagnetic sensitivity.

Safe and Sound EM3 AC magnetic field measurement

• AC magnetic field frequency response: +/-1 dB at 16.7 Hz and from 50 Hz-120 kHz, within the 0.01-25 mG or 1-2500 nT range
• With reduced tolerance, the measurement range extends up to 100 mG or 10,000 nT per axis
• With reduced tolerance, 3D measurement extends up to 173 mG or 17,300 nT
• Magnetic field strength range: 0.01-100 mG, frequency dependent, 1 axis
• 3D magnetic measurement range: 0.01-173 mG, 3 axes
• Magnetic fields are measured on three axes: X, Y and Z

The EM3 uses three magnetic field sensors. The three sensors register magnetic fields relative to the X, Y and Z axes.

• AC electric field frequency response: +/-1 dB at 16.7 Hz and from 50 Hz-400 kHz, within the 0.01-10 V/m range
• AC electric field frequency response: +/-1 dB at 16.7 Hz and from 50 Hz-120 kHz, within the 0.01-approximately 45 V/m range
• With reduced tolerance, the measurement range extends up to 200 V/m
• Electric field strength range: 0.01-200 V/m, frequency dependent
• Electric fields are measured on 1 axis, the Y axis

The EM3 uses single-axis sensing for AC electric field measurements. Cables for grounded electric field measurements are also included.

Safe and Sound EM3 body voltage measurement

Body voltage measurement indicates AC electric field exposure on the human body and is not a direct measurement of electric fields in the environment. The measurement procedure takes a voltage reading between a person and a dedicated ground point.
