SLR 1000 installation options

• Indoor or outdoor installation
• Wall mounting
• Ceiling mounting
• Pole mounting
• For wall or pole mounting, the chassis fins must be oriented vertically
• For ceiling mounting, the fins face towards the ceiling
• Installation requires a restricted access location
• The installation area must safely support the weight of the repeater

The supplied mounting hardware is used for wall or ceiling mounting. Four number 10/32 lag bolts are required and are not included in the mounting hardware. Four M6 screws are installed in the chassis side fins and tightened to 60 in-lb.

Pole mounting

Pole mounting requires the PMLN7213 pole mount kit, the supplied wall mounting bracket and four M6 screws. Four additional M4 screws are used for a power supply. Installation can use a U-bolt, two 1/2 inch washers and four 1/2 inch nuts on poles with a diameter of 2-2.75 inches, or two band clamps on poles of any diameter. The band clamps are not included in the pole mount kit.

Operating and environmental conditions

• Maximum operating ambient temperature at sea level: +60 C
• Supported operating altitude: up to 5000 m above sea level
• Maximum operating temperature reduction: 1 C per 1000 m elevation
• Operation above 5000 m may be feasible, but specifications and parameters are not guaranteed
• The metal housing may become extremely hot during operation
• Ventilation openings between the chassis fins must not be blocked or covered
• Combustible materials must not be stored in or near the equipment

The fanless design reduces noise, particulate intrusion and the number of components. The repeater does not require HVAC cooling, providing additional placement options where HVAC cooling is not available.

Electrical and RF installation requirements

• The equipment must be grounded according to Motorola R56 and applicable local electrical codes
• A bonding wire of at least 6 AWG is required between the repeater ground screw and the site ground point
• The outer shields of all Tx and Rx RF cables must be grounded
• All Tx and Rx RF cables must be connected to a surge protection device
• Tx and Rx RF cables must not be connected directly to an outside antenna
• RF connectors must be secure and properly terminated
• Power must be disconnected before connecting or disconnecting antennas
• Unauthorised modifications and substitute parts are not permitted
• Servicing must be performed by Motorola-trained personnel

Installation planning must consider input power, antennas, system interfaces, site environmental conditions, the mounting method and the required tools and equipment.

SLR 1000 status indication and commissioning

When power is applied, the three front-panel LEDs illuminate for approximately one second, turn off for one second and then indicate the operational status of the repeater. Operation can be verified by observing the three LEDs and exercising radio operation.
