Further details of Midland XT30 Pro PMR Transceiver Pair in Green

The Midland XT30 Pro is a bright green PMR two-way radio set containing two transceivers. The radios operate within the 446.00625-446.19375 MHz frequency range on 16 PMR446 channels. The units provide a communication range of up to 6 km in open, unobstructed environments with a direct line of sight.

Midland XT30 Pro PMR two-way radio set

The unit has a splashproof design resistant to humidity and dew. Its documented applications include keeping in contact during outdoor activities, excursions and weekend trips. For pair or group communication, the transceivers must be configured to the same channel and, where required, the same CTCSS tone.

XT30 Pro radio frequency characteristics

• Frequency range: 446.00625-446.19375 MHz
• Radio standard: PMR446
• Number of channels: 16
• Channel spacing: 12.5 kHz
• Transmit power: 500 mW ERP
• Modulation: FM
• Duty cycle: transmit 5%, receive 5%, standby 90%

The maximum range depends on terrain conditions and environmental obstructions.
In urban environments with buildings and other obstructions, the typical range is approximately 1-2 km. In open areas partially obstructed by trees, vegetation or houses, the range is approximately 2-4 km. In open and unobstructed environments with a direct line of sight, such as in mountainous areas, the range can reach 6 km.

Midland XT30 Pro communication functions

• Voice-activated VOX transmission without pressing the PTT button
• Single-level VOX setting
• 38 CTCSS tones
• Scan channel scanning
• Monitor function
• Call tone
• Switchable Roger Beep end-of-transmission tone
• Switchable keypad beep

CTCSS tones with code numbers from 1 to 38 can be assigned to the 16 channels. Radios communicating with each other must be set to the same channel and the same CTCSS tone. The selected channel and CTCSS tone are shown on the LCD.

VOX and Roger Beep functions

The VOX function activates transmission by voice without pressing the PTT button. When using an optional VOX headset, the headset switch must be placed in the VOX position. Roger Beep sends an audible signal to other users at the end of transmission and can be switched off.

Scan and Monitor functions

The Scan function monitors busy channels and stops on a channel where radio traffic is detected. The scanning direction can be selected with the control buttons. Scanning resumes approximately 5 seconds after activity on the busy channel stops.

The Monitor function enables the reception of weak signals. Stronger background noise may also be audible while this function is active.
