Further details of Albrecht Tectalk 4 Team 4-Piece PMR Two-Way Radio Set
The Albrecht Tectalk 4 Team is a four-unit PMR two-way radio set for radio communication between team members. The radios can be used in licence-free and subscription-free PMR operation. The package contains four two-way radios, headsets with microphones, batteries, charging equipment, fastening and carrying accessories, and a shared carrying case.
Albrecht Tectalk 4 Team PMR radio communication
• 16 PMR446 channels
• Frequency range: 446.00625-446.19375 MHz
• Range of up to 10 km
• Maximum transmit power: 500 mW ERP
• Frequency stability: +/- 2.5 ppm
• Further technical characteristics according to ETSI EN 300 296
• Licence-free and subscription-free PMR two-way radios
The 16-channel configuration provides access to the complete PMR446 channel set. When communicating with an older eight-channel PMR446 radio, only the first eight channels of the Tectalk 4 Team can be used.
PMR446 channels and frequencies
• Channel 1: 446.00625 MHz

• Channel 15: 446.18125 MHz
• Channel 16: 446.19375 MHz
After being switched on, the radio automatically enters receive mode until the user initiates a transmission. The status LED lights green during reception and red during transmission. To transmit, hold down the PTT button and speak into the microphone at normal volume from a distance of approximately 5 cm.
Tectalk 4 Team controls and connections
• Fixed antenna
• On, off and volume control
• Receive and transmit status LED
• Integrated loudspeaker
• Integrated microphone
• Charging status LED
• Programmable side button
• PTT transmit button
• Separate channel up and channel down buttons
• Direct USB-C charging port
• Kenwood-wired headset, earphone and microphone connector
• The headset connector can also be used for a programming cable
The charging LED lights red during charging and changes to green when charging is complete. The radio can be charged directly through the USB-C port using the included power adapter and USB-C charging cable.
Albrecht Tectalk 4 Team communication functions
• VOX voice-operated transmission
• Monitor function
• Call tone
• Alarm tone
• English voice prompts
• 44 CTCSS tones
• 211 DCS codes
• Channel scan function
• Automatic battery-saving mode
• End-of-reception tone
• Roger Beep
• BCL, or Busy Channel Lockout
• Adjustable transmission time limit
• Powerful audio playback and good modulation
The VOX function allows transmission to start without pressing the PTT button. The radio automatically switches to transmit mode when VOX detects speech into the microphone. VOX sensitivity can be selected in nine levels. Level 1 activates transmission at a low sound level, while level 9 requires a higher speaking volume.
Monitor, Call and alarm functions
• The Monitor function temporarily disables the squelch so that weak signals and background noise can be heard
• The Call function sends a tone to users operating on the same channel
• The alarm function produces a siren tone through the radio loudspeaker at the currently selected volume
• The programmable side button can be assigned to Monitor, Scan, VOX or Alarm
The Monitor function can be used when adjusting the volume or receiving weak signals that would otherwise be suppressed by the squelch. The alarm tone is activated by holding down the programmable side button.
CTCSS and DCS coding
• 44 CTCSS tones are available
• 211 DCS codes are available
• CTCSS uses an inaudible sub-tone
• DCS uses a digital code
• Only messages using the same CTCSS tone or DCS code can be received
CTCSS and DCS settings can block unwanted radio messages. Radios communicating on the same channel must use the same CTCSS tone or DCS code.
Optional programming options
• Nine-level squelch setting
• Nine-level VOX sensitivity setting
• Roger Beep activation or deactivation
• Scrambler setting
• CTCSS and DCS configuration
• End-of-reception tone setting
• Busy Channel Lockout setting for each channel
• Scan function configuration
• Alarm function configuration
• Battery-saving mode configuration
• Transmission time limit from 90 to 520 seconds in 15-second steps
The listed options can be changed using optional programming software. The squelch mutes the loudspeaker when no signal is being received. A setting that is too low results in continuous background noise, while a setting that is too high may suppress weak radio transmissions.
Channel scanning and busy channel lockout
• The Scan function automatically searches the channels
• Each channel can be configured individually for inclusion in the scan
• When a signal is found, the radio automatically remains on that channel
• Busy Channel Lockout prevents transmission on an occupied channel
• When transmission is attempted on an occupied channel, a warning tone is emitted and the transmission is blocked
The transmission time limit prevents the radio from accidentally occupying a channel continuously. The transmission is automatically interrupted when the configured time has elapsed.
Tectalk 4 Team battery and charging
• Removable Li-polymer battery
• Capacity: 3000 mAh
• Nominal voltage: 3.7 V
• Energy rating: 11.1 Wh
• Operating time: approximately 14 hours
• Direct USB-C charging
• Automatic battery-saving mode
• English voice warning for low battery level
The battery must be fully charged before first use. When the battery level is low, the radio issues an English charging warning every 20 seconds. Further radio messages cannot be transmitted in this state; pressing the PTT button produces a warning tone.
When enabled, the battery-saving mode activates automatically after 20 seconds without transmit or receive activity. The radio then alternates between receive-ready and standby operation. Reception is not possible during the standby interval, so very short transmissions may be missed.
