The Albrecht DR 865 can be used in Standard Mode or in the activatable Comfort Mode. Standard Mode provides access to station scanning, mode selection and the device settings menu. Comfort Mode limits operation to the basic functions.

When voice assistance is activated, the device reads out the menu items in the selected language. The function can be switched on or off through the menu or by holding the INFO button on the radio for 2 seconds.

The device receives DAB/DAB+ and FM radio broadcasts. When first switched on, it automatically performs a complete DAB/DAB+ station scan. A new station scan can be started later, for example after the radio has been moved to another location.

ASA, Automatic Safety Alert, is a standard for official emergency announcements transmitted over the DAB network. The Albrecht DR 865 automatically receives and plays these announcements when the current station participates in the ASA system.
