Antenna Mast and Fitting

When we want to install an antenna on our roof or on the side wall of our property, we need to consider how we can mount the antenna. For this purpose we will need antenna masts and the corresponding fittings. If you are installing the antenna and its supporting pole on a flat roof, you will need a mast support. If your roof is not flat, you will need a mast pole and clamp to fix the mast to the rafters. If the antenna is mounted on a wall, you can mount it on the outside of the building using a wall bracket. In this case, depending on the size of the antenna, wall brackets of appropriate size are available. Read more...

Naturally, a large 85 cm parabolic antenna requires a significantly stronger bracket than a 33 cm mini antenna. For roof mounted antennas, care should be taken to position it at the highest point of the building, this will also help to ensure proper reception. If wall mounted, the overhang of the roof should also be taken into account. The closer the antenna mount is mounted to the overhang of the roof, the more likely it is to degrade reception.

How to choose the right antenna mast based on available space and needs?

As mentioned above, in addition to the size of the antenna, the mounting location is also crucial when selecting a mount. Here it is important to determine, for example, how long the mast will need to be at the highest point of the building and, if it is to be mounted on a wall, how far away from the wall the bracket should be. We also need to check whether we want a dipole or a parabolic antenna on the roof or wall of our building, and the weight of the antenna itself. Because these details will largely determine what type, size and design of mast you will need.

What materials are masts and fittings made of, and how does this affect durability and weather resistance?

The vast majority of antenna masts and fittings available in the DND Telecom webshop are made of galvanised steel and aluminium. This guarantees a robust and strong design. In addition, these materials are highly resistant to the elements, which in turn guarantees durability and that they will keep your antenna for a long time and without problems.

What load carrying capacity of antenna masts are available and how do you determine if the mast you choose is appropriate for the weight of your antenna?

The weight of DVB-T antennas for digital TV reception ranges from about 1 to 3 kg. Parabolic antennas weigh a little more, between 3 and 5 kg. In light of this, you will need a shorter mast for a satellite dish. For digital TV broadcasts, you can also opt for support poles with a length of 2 or 3 metres, especially if they are properly secured with the brackets or brackets available in the webshop.

What types of antenna masts and mounts are available in our webshop?

In the DND Telecom webshop you will find a wide range of parts and fittings for the proper operation of antennas. So we also have a wide range of tools for mounting and fixing it. What are they? For example the mast pole, the mast pole support stand, the mast pole holder, the concrete slab for fixing the antenna mast, the pipe release antenna support bracket, the mast brace and fixing bracket or base clamp or the pipe locking cap.

Do we need additional tools or accessories to install the mast or are all the necessary items included in the package?

To mount the antenna mast and the fittings needed to secure it in place, a screwdriver and a wrench will be essential. But we also need to check which dowels and screws are essential for secure fixing, because these are not included in the package, we have to get them ourselves. When fixing the mast, it is important to make sure that the correct dowels/screws are used for the roof sheathing and masonry to absorb the necessary force. If possible, use stainless steel screws, preferably V2A grade, as these can be used outdoors. This way, not only the mast and the fitting, but also the bolts that go with them will retain their durability for a long time.
