WiFi Two-Way Radio

- further categories

Wireless internet access (WiFi or WLAN) is now so widespread that it is hard to find an area in a village that is not covered. WiFi transceivers, which operate on a digital basis at 2.4 GHz, take advantage of this by connecting to each other via the already established wireless network (802.11 a/b/g/n). As a result, their range is limited only by the coverage of the WiFi network, while enabling cheap and fast communication. Read more...

When can you use a WiFi transceiver?

WiFi transceivers can be used in a variety of situations, so it's no wonder they are becoming more and more common. They are much easier to operate and use than traditional radios. Because they use existing infrastructure, the cost of ownership is significantly lower, not to mention the additional services offered by WiFi transceivers.

Office use

Radio communication in a large office complex, up to tens of thousands of square metres, can often only be achieved using repeaters. WiFi radios, on the other hand, are likely to use the existing WLAN network in the building and can be deployed immediately. Where WiFi network coverage is available, radio coverage is also available. It makes life much easier for security or maintenance staff, for example.

Application in warehouses

Warehouses typically cover a large area, but real-time communication is essential. As in offices, a WiFi transceiver is the simplest solution. These devices have no problems with shielding, meaning they can be used in steel or reinforced concrete buildings, for example.

Site communication

With a VPN, geographical distances are no longer a problem. This is particularly important when it comes to communication between sites in different parts of the country. With classic transceivers, this would require extra investment or the use of mobile phones.

Use in hotels

Traditional two-way radios can receive transmissions from one party at a time. WiFi transceivers, on the other hand, allow several people to talk to each other on a single channel. This means that different areas in a hotel, such as management, maintenance or reception, can communicate with each other on their own separate channel.

Albrecht 2.4 GHz transceiver radios

These radios allow full duplex communication, similar to GSM phones. As mentioned above, Albrecht transceivers allow several people to talk on the same channel without having to press any buttons (i.e. both hands are free with one earpiece). The wifi network system does not require a control centre.

Typical uses:
sports events (communication between referees), security services, concerts, conferences, construction sites.

Icom IP WiFi transceiver radios

With products from the well-known Japanese manufacturer Icom, you can communicate free of charge, regardless of your geographical location, all you need is an existing or newly installed WiFi network. Dispatching software can even localise the radios, and Icom's transceivers can also send short text messages. The system also requires a central control unit.

Typical applications: sites, offices, warehouses, hotels.
